This morning, I was proud to nominate my colleague Andy Burnham as the next leader of the Labour party.
Over the last 9 years, I’ve seen how as Mayor, Andy Burnham has transformed Greater Manchester turning it into an engine of growth and prosperity but doing it in a way that put place first and didn’t play politics for the sake of it.
The broken Westminster system that Andy left in 2017 and has spoken about since, needs radical change and an ability to see beyond the lens of a few square miles in Whitehall.
Since making clear his intentions to run for the leadership of the Labour Party, Andy has set out how under his leadership, politics would be done differently, devolving more powers to those who know their areas best, a path to taking back control of public utilities that have failed under private ownership and being unapologetic in moving to improve living standards.
I know that people across Wrexham have been disappointed in the pace of change that has been delivered in Labour’s first two years of Government, and I share in much of this despite all we have been able to achieve.
Andy's vision is one that seeks not to divide but to bring us together; one that offers hope in a way that is visible and practical; and one that finally brings to an end the outdated and dysfunctional way in which our country has functioned for far too long, and one that will take us forward to the better future that we all demand. ... An excellent update here from Cllr Corin Jarvis - Acton and Maesydre about today's Executive Board meeting where Acton Community Resource Centre was discussed.
There is a clear commitment to delivering both the day service for Cunliffe Centre service users and community facilities for the Acton community.
The work continues but this is moving forward positively thanks to elected representatives, officers from WCBC, service users and the community. It is vital that the voices of those who use both the Cunfliffe Centre and Acton Community Resource Centre continue to be heard as these plans develop. ... See MoreSee Less
