📝Last week I signed Alex Ballinger MP’s open letter to the Chancellor with my Labour colleagues calling for Gambling Tax Reform, and I’m proud to share his campaign with ITV today. 👇
The principle is simple: those who profit most from the most harmful products should pay more.
Adult Gaming Centres are concentrated in our poorer communities. 47% are in the most deprived fifth of the country.
It’s targeted.
The harms from machine gambling cost our economy over £2.3 billion, and it’s families, councils, the NHS and taxpayers who pick up the bill, not the operators.
A higher duty on the highest-harm gaming machines would change that, while leaving pubs and bingo untouched.
