One of my constituents is on the Global Sumud Flotilla and a number of people have contacted me regarding the safety of those participating. The flotilla includes 52 mostly small vessels carrying citizens from different countries. The flotilla is bringing humanitarian aid, mainly food and medicine, for Palestinians who are suffering from the blockade of Gaza by the Israeli Government.
I have joined with other MPs in signing a letter from my colleague Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP to express our deep concern about the safety and security of those on the flotilla. The letter emphasises to the Foreign Secretary that any communication with her Israeli counterparts must communicate in the strongest possible terms that “no harm must come to the flotilla or the British citizens on board”. 043 - Global Sumud Flotilla - Letter to Foreign Secretary
