I convened my latest meeting to understand the progress in improving the hospital parking situation at Wrexham Maelor hospital. I was pleased to hear an update on the work the Health Board is doing on this and I will continue to work for solutions on this issue. I know that there is a consensus amongst elected representatives in our area to see this resolved, this collective effort is welcome and important that it continues.
In the meeting I also asked about the main door to the Maelor which has been out of use for 18 months and a topic which many of you have contacted me about. Progress has been made in terms of replacing the door and work should be completed by the end of the calendar year. These are bespoke doors that take time to be made. The delay was also caused by an impasse over the insurance, with a difference between what the insurance company paid out and the cost of a new door. This funding gap has now been bridged, and I am delighted that work on this will be going ahead.
