Here in Wrexham, Michael Sheen’s documentary “Buried” shone a light on what communities surrounding the Monsanto Ruabon plant had been raising for many years. Michael Sheen, Lucy Taylor and Dan Ashby, the latter investigative journalists, appeared in front on the Welsh Affairs Committee to give evidence on what they have found not just from making the documentary, but over many years affecting different parts of Wales as well as other parts of the UK.

The polluters responsible for dumping these forever chemicals should be the ones who remediate the affected sites. In the UK, there is no longer a national fund for remediation. This requires a 4 nation approach and should not be left to local councils to deal with, who risk bankruptcy from the cost. What was also clear is that testing needs to be more extensive and more research done into the impact of PCBs on us and the environment.
