I was delighted to be at Wrexham Museum and National Football Museum of Wales on its opening day on 25th September. The museum of ‘two halves’ project has been eagerly anticipated and the finished result is absolutely fantastic. The museum caters for everyone, with interactive elements and in depth exhibits. It is such an asset to our city you can book free tickets on the museum website https://www.wrexhammuseum.wales/visit-us/
On a visit to Overton, I met the team at Overton Playcentre who had a brilliant Estyn and Childcare Inspectorate Wales report in the summer and invited me to come and see what they do. The setting is clearly catering brilliantly for the children and the team are rightly incredibly proud of what they do.
I also visited Knolton Farmhouse Cheese, a well established local employer producing cheese, butter and dairy powders from surplus milk. They are so committed to sustainable practices and shared their daily operation as well as the story behind their business with me.

At the Wrexham University Students’ Union’s Freshers Fair, I met so many local organisations offering support and opportunities to young people starting their university journey here in Wrexham. It was so great to see what’s out there and to share why studying and spending time in Wrexham is so worthwhile. I took the opportunity whilst there to speak to Wrexham County Borough Council and North Wales Police to see how young people, can have a safe night out. As part of their Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls strategy, they are rolling out Operation Virtue with a range of measures to sit alongside the North Wales Women’s Night Safety Charter in partnership with Wrexham County Borough Council and a number of venues around Wrexham city centre.

I was delighted to joining the official opening to celebrate the new state-of-the-art 3G football facilities at Ysgol Bryn Alyn that will serve pupils at the school, local sports clubs and the wider community. This is a collaboration of U.K Government (through the Cymru Football Foundation), Welsh Government (Sport Wales) and Wrexham County Borough Council. The UK Government has invested c.£540,000 comes from the Department for Culture Media and Sports’ Multi-Sport Grassroots Facility Programme. This is also part of a wider investment of £5.6million committed by UK Government to facilities in Wales in 2026/27. It was brilliant to see the impact these facilities are already having on the school and the wider community.
