It is fantastic news that Wrexham have had its official approval for its plans for the £20 million Pride in Place programme. Following the 2024 General Election, the Labour UK Government moved to secure the full £20 million investment as it was previously unfunded. The plans will focus on 4 core areas: Youth Focus, City Centre Safety, Placemaking, and Culture. The plan has now been approved by the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government and will now be delivered by the City Board chaired by Rachel Clacher. The initiative is designed to ensure that Wrexham’s recent international spotlight translates into long-term, local benefits for residents. The plans include ideas for the city centre and a flagship Youth Zone facility. They aim to foster civic pride, community cohesion and support communities affected by inequality. Focus now turns to delivery and I will continue to work with the City Board to achieve this.
