I was privileged to represent the Welsh Affairs Committee at the Transport Select Committee session on Wednesday 17th December. The session explored the Railways Bill and across the 3 panels, we explored:
- How GBR would work with decision makers in the devolved governments to organise cross-border services, and how Scottish and Welsh ministers would be consulted through changes to services or spending on infrastructure.
- The Scottish and Welsh experiences in terms of track infrastructure.
- The devolution arrangements for rail in Merseyside and the West Midlands, the experience of elected Mayors in this and how this would operate in terms of holding Great British Railways to account.
