I have received many messages regarding the future of the former Plas yn Rhos site. I want to clarify the situation as it stands, following further information regarding the nature of this proposal.
It is important to understand that this is not a Home Office consultation. This is a proposal being driven by a private business, Clearsprings Ready Homes. To my knowledge, this is now the third time in recent years that Clearsprings has brought forward a proposal for this site. On the previous two occasions, the proposal was formally objected to by Wrexham County Borough Council.
While Plas yn Rhos is located just outside my Wrexham constituency, I recognise that its potential impact, particularly on our local GP surgeries, schools, and infrastructure, will be felt deeply by my constituents. I am working closely with Steve Witherden MP, WCBC, and the local community to ensure our voices are heard.
If Clearsprings chooses to pursue this proposal further, they must follow the usual planning process. This is a statutory matter for the Council. Any change of use for the building will require formal scrutiny, and this remains the proper channel for local concerns regarding the suitability of the site and the pressure on public services to be addressed.
I will continue to work with local partners to ensure that any development in our borough is sustainable, managed, and prioritises the needs of our existing services.
