In the lead up to the budget, I continue to work with colleagues to highlight and make representations about the importance of our hospitality sector. This is a sector incredibly close to my heart and I was pleased to sign Chris Webb MP’s letter to the Chancellor asking her to consider the unique position of hospitality in terms of its employment opportunities for young people, its seasonality, and its vital role in growth and skills. Whilst business rates are a devolved matter for Welsh Government, Employer National Insurance contributions and VAT affect businesses here in Wrexham and are the responsibility of the UK Government.
