Your Space
At Your Space in Llay, I was privileged to meet Rachel and Andrew for a tour of their facilities in and to hear about their work in our community. These include outreach, family support, the sensory room, after school club, and holiday club, dance and music, family swim as well as respite. Your Space work with children with an autism diagnosis but also those who don’t yet have one. They will also be offering autism and mental health training too. Spirit Fest 2025
Wrexham has such a diverse cultural offering and the paallam.arts Spirit Fest 2025 was no exception. I was delighted to be invited to the inauguration event and then see part of the festival itself the following day. Congratulations to all those who took part, what a brilliant event in the city centre.
Nightingale House
Nightingale House Hospice has been part of the community in Wrexham for the last 30 years and for many of us here in Wrexham, it is so much more than a building. On my visit, it was inspiring to hear what a crucial resource for the community Nightingale House is, offering a wide range of services that extend far beyond traditional end-of-life care. The breadth of services offered and the tireless drive to ensure patients live well following their diagnosis are incredible.
Rainbow Foundation
I was also humbled by my visit to the Rainbow Centre in Penley. The Rainbow Foundation do brilliant work across Wrexham and I met with its Chief Officer Caroline to hear about the importance of active ageing and how the charity supports this. Caroline also explained how their Active Futures programme is also having a significant impact in combatting frailty and MSK conditions. I was also keen to hear about the Penley Polish Heritage Project particularly in this 80th anniversary year of the end of World War 2. The Foundation’s efforts around social prescribing have also been recognised and celebrated which is fantastic to see.
